Red Book

The theme of Red Book is loosely based on an imaginary alternative universe.
Red Book began life as one piece, where I masked the sections before applying inks using a range of mark making methods and tools. The piece was then cut and folded to make the book, where I worked again on each individual tile. There are 12 tiles/pages.
The cover is from recycled Kimono fabric.
The whole book can be displayed by extending the covers which stretch to 100cm, or you may select sections and alternate your favorite pages. It is self supporting and sits well on a bookshelf, mantel piece or side table.

As a mixed media artist, I embrace the challenge of working with a range of mediums, often incorporating discarded and reimaged papers. My creative process embraces the unknown of random mark-making and layering, drawing from my background in ceramics and fashion design.
