As an artist, opportunities to connect deeply with someone elevates my work beyond the two dimensional surface in the pursuit of the raw, and uncensored self. It is this self, standing before us in its honesty, that speaks to the viewer and reflects something back that is relatable and true. ‘Hold Your Own, 2021’ captures the soulful healing between partners as we share, love and learn from our human fallibility. As we hold each other we find the individual courage to face the wounds inflicted by life’s unpredictable weather. Although our pain is individual, we are constantly learning how we can support each others process for inner peace and growth. Together, we strive to hold our own.
