This artwork is the third one in a series of six on recycled paper I started while in the Queensland outback for one week. It was an awesome trip. I loved the wide spaces, the red dirt, the birds, the quietness, the huge butterflies and so on. So first impressions were made there with mark making my emotions and feelings. I covered the papers in dirt and washed it off or rubbed the dirt in and went from there. The first two are already up for sale now. This one particularly is about a phrase in a song I love so much ‘my ears fly far away fluttering’ and was listening to again by Yura Yunita. I use a similar color palette for every work although the outcomes are totally different of Naples yellow, red gold, burnt umber and different blues in acrylic paints, water soluble oil pastels, pen and pencils for text and texture. Long way to go with this one but so far I’m quite happy….
