I was inspired to paint this picture from a photo I took of a neighbour’s proteas. I was struck by their shape and colour and I thought they would be an excellent subject for a painting. I have used Sennelier artist quality paints to block in the shapes and then gradually add details. The last layer was done in thick oil paint which gives a feeling of the texture of the leaves. I think the bright orange background adds a great contrast. The painting has a light coloured timber frame and will be ready to hang on the wall when you receive it.
