Artist Bio

From childhood Marilyn always loved drawing and performed well at school in the creative arts. Marilyn took oil painting lessons when her children were young and sold much of her work through word of mouth and at local exhibitions. Marilyn has also gifted much of her artwork to family and friends. Many years passed with other work and family commitments but Marilyn retired a few years ago and picked up her brushes to return to what she enjoys and can share with others.

Marilyn's love of nature features in her work whether it be wildlife, birdlife, pet portraits or landscapes. Her aim is to bring the subject to life so that every day people can relate to her artwork and enjoy it. She is so encouraged to see a positive emotional response to her pet portraits and commissions, and even a few tears at times of portraits of much loved pets never forgotten. Marilyn works mainly in acrylics and when asked about the realism in her paintings she simply answers "I paint what I see".

All of Marilyn's artwork painted on stretched canvas has the image continued on all sides of the painting. The artwork is finished with an acid free clear gloss sealer.

Marilyn paints to share her love of nature and the beauty of all things Australia and beyond. She finds it both challenging and rewarding. It certainly cuts through the "noise" of this world and can be quite therapeutic.

In 2018 Marilyn was thankful and excited to sell both of her artworks entered into the David Bryce Awards Exhibition, Kingaroy where she received the People's Choice award for her kookaburra artwork. MariIyn continues to exhibit her work in the South East Queensland region and beyond where she has had success in several galleries, exhibitions and cafes.
