Born in Russia, Marina Strijakova migrated to Australia in 1999. As for the majority of female artists with family commitments, her creativity craved for release all those years since and as soon as opportunity presented (children finished schools) Marina immersed herself into the multi-faceted world of painting.
Marina is an artist who finds it fascinating and inspiring to take the basic ingredients of canvas, medium and paint, add a recipe of her own imagination and turn the original material things into a piece of art with emotional and aesthetic value.
In her works, she tries to share her feelings about the beauty of nature. While she knows that many artists have done this before, she hopes to bring a different and thus outstanding perspective. In her mind, you need to immense yourself in a piece of art to feel its magic. And to help this process, she believes large formats work the best.
Her collection of paintings are predominantly commissioned on larger formats, such as 90x90 cm and above. A variety of medium, including impasto, modelling paste, heavy gel and gesso are used to add a texture to the painting. Ink, acrylic and oil paints add the colours and shades, multi-layered to add feeling of depth.
You will find a variety of mediums and techniques in Marina artwork, but her favourite is acrylic pouring. Due to the nature of the technique process, every resulting art piece is an ultimately unique item which is impossible to repeat or reproduce in the same manner. Frankly, the idea of the subject for most of works comes only after pouring is complete. Then, seeing the lines of the medium flow instead of the blank canvas turns up the imagination to the max.
Marina appreciates that there are so many outstanding artists out there and she can't stop herself but try to learn all she can. She attended many masterclass workshops, subscribed and studies lesson recordings. It is amazing what an art can do!
