Artwork Description

A whimsical painting for a whimsical bird. Featuring the beautiful and endangered Swift Parrots, who migrate all the way across Bass Strait to Central Victoria for the winter. These gorgeous little birds breed in spring and summer in Tasmania and in winter can be seen close to the river - here they are visiting the Campaspe, there is a also another long distance traveller - the Bogong moth, and a friendly caterpillar.
I have painted this to depict the joyous nature of these little birds but also to bring awareness of their plight. Yellow flowering gum and the colours of the riverbank complete the scene.
