For many decades, I have been creating and thinking art with its ability to tell ancient depictive stories of life.
The creative mediums I use are mostly tactile, because the objects, drawing and painting materials, trigger my senses on subconscious levels. The sound and feeling of chalk on paper, or the smell of freshly applied colours, send waves of thoughts and emotions up from the depths, surging though my hand into the material. Often the juxtaposition of light and dark are elements that relay an age-old flux, as in life. The universe! Nodes and internodes! Cave and fire - Epic dancing shadows in elastic equilibriums. When I am creating works, it often feels like I am transcending space and time in a type of meditative hum.
When not expressing there is a building of tension, winding up, that contorts till it explodes into existence, when triggered. Training in art, horticulture, digital media, building engineering, and travels, are a few of the sources that forge cross connections of line, intersections and associations, within my art. Landscape forms the base of my work, as it is the supporting web we inhabit. Natural or unnatural fragments of the past strung together in clusters of memories all interconnected in some way.
My endeavour hopefully forms part of a lost cave, in the future, acting as a reference to a mind and soul of our time. My world and the people around me drive me to capture our place in time as art, to explain this life to them and myself, through my eyes and hand. Seeking to evoke an emotional connection and response from the viewer, so powerful, that they can bond with my view and see an evolution. The strong hidden themes sometime overwhelming the viewer.
Please enjoy and delve into my world.
