I was immediately attracted to the detail in the kimonos of these girls. One of the girls was a student we hosted.
The brightness and vibrancy of their costumes was very exciting (though demanding!) to paint and I am pleased with the finished result.
In the original photo there was a very boring building behind them, so I replaced that with something a bit more attractive.
This painting is framed in a gold frame and neutral coloured matt (see photo).
Framed size is 94 x 94 x 3 cms.

Artwork Description
Artist Bio
I’m an Artist and Musician who was born in Melbourne, but am now based in Cairns (Queensland).
In my art I try to capture the beauty and texture of nature, and man-made objects that have developed their own patina over time.
My aim is to depict a scene realistically – but even more than real, exploiting colour and detail to bring it to the attention of the viewer.
For many years my primary medium has been watercolour, but lately I’ve broadened my palette to include acrylics and oils.
