With no formal art training or studying my interest in painting, primarily in arranging and juxtaposing colour, has always been to make something of beauty, of harmony, arising as something I like to do without thinking much beyond the palette I might use for a painting. I do not like to paint a 'thing' but rather create a feeling, a place where the eye can rest, peace. I sometimes add graphics like crop circles and Celtic symbols, both of which fascinate me via the power of the mystery, particularly of crop circles. I add these digitally and offer prints of such works in various sizes as well as the original paintings.
I moved to the Byron Bay area in the mid 80s, inspired like so many others by the vibrant colours of the hinterland and the stunning colours of the ocean.
I have spent extended periods in my life in India and in Bali, immersing myself in the colourfulness of Asia.
For most of the last 20 years I have been involved in magazine publishing and writing, both in national as well as Byron-based magazines, and in 2022 I set up my studio and began painting again. After a long hiatus I find I am less concerned about what others think.
