Mark O’Hara is a figurative landscape artist based in Brisbane, Queensland, whose works are inspired by a combination of Australian land and seascapes, and urban scenes and structures. Mark is frequently drawn to scenes in which the interplay of light, and the hour of the day, has an effect on the mood and the presentation of the encompassing environment. While enjoying the integration of strong colour tones, he is often appealed by more muted palettes, particularly when conveying sentimental and thought-provoking feelings and ideas.
Primarily self-taught, Mark began sketching in his early childhood and credits his grandfather, who was also a painter, with developing his initial interest in art. He began working in oils later in 2017, after completing a short skills course where he was introduced to the application and joy of the medium. Mark has been a finalist in several Queensland art awards, including the Paddington Art Prize, the Redlands Art Awards and the Rotary Art Show.
