Artwork Description

Three seagulls stand in quiet formation against a vivid field of textured yellow, their white feathers catching hints of blue, grey, and reflected light. Beneath their perch, abstract strokes of deep navy, ochre, and red break apart like weathered paint on an old jetty, creating a sense of movement and coastal grit.

DETAILS:
*Medium: Acrylic on canvas with layered texture.

*Technique: Layered acrylics with loose, textured brushwork and palette-knife marks; detailed figurative rendering over an abstract, scraped background.

*Style: Abstract–figurative contemporary art with coastal and expressionist influences.

*Inspiration: The character of seagulls at rest, contrasted against the bold colours and weathered textures of the seaside environment.

Artist Bio

I’m a Sunshine Coast artist creating vibrant coastal artwork that explores light, open skies and the quiet rhythm of the sea.

My work is driven by colour, movement and atmosphere, drawing inspiration from the relaxed beauty of Australia’s coastline.

Working primarily in acrylics and soft pastels, I use expressive brushwork and bold colour. Each piece is an interpretation rather than a replication — focused on feeling as much as form.
