I love painting, usually in thick oil paint layered onto the surface of my canvases in expressive bold painterly brushstrokes and palette knife, before adding the finer details. In the painting process I am inspired to experiment, and over the years have created both figurative and abstract artworks. More recently, I have captured the beautiful landscape of my surroundings here in Cairns, Far North Queensland. I am interested in constructing loose, painterly works that merge abstract mark-making with the beauty of the landscape and nature. Finding a balance between the subject and paint itself.
I emigrated to FNQ, Australia from the UK and have since exhibited in both group and solo shows, most notably my 1st solo exhibition 'Crossing the Border' at Cairns Art Gallery in 2014, shortly followed by 'On Golden Soil' at Cell Art Space in 2015. In 2016, I was a finalist in the Queensland Regional Art Awards and Percival Portrait Painting Prize both in 2016 and 2018. I have a BA (Hons) Fine Art β 1st Class Degree from the University of Central England, Birmingham Institute of Art & Design and Foundation Studies (Art & Design) - BTEC Diploma with Merit from the University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham College of Art & Design.
I hope you enjoy my paintings and find something you love for your collection. Thank you π
