Stardust

This is a portrait painting of Joni Mitchell using stylistic influences from Dutch artist Ger Doornink. It is titled 'Stardust' after the lyrics ("we are stardust") of her famous song 'Woodstock'. Indeed, she is golden stardust in my eyes - I have been listening to her beautiful songs for more than 40 years now. The golden halo is characteristic of Doornink's portraits of women as are the vertical and horizontal lines.

My paintings try to capture the the vivid colours in beautiful Australian landscapes that I have visited during my travels. My recent work is inspired by aerial photographs of Australian desert landscapes, the Flinders Ranges and the seascapes of the Fleurieu Peninsular. I find painting inredibly meditative, indeed therapeutic. Everyone should try it!
