Still Standing: Port Willunga

One of my favourite places on the Fleurieu Peninsula (South Australia) is Port Willunga. The old jetty pylons that still stand on the shoreline and shallows are an iconic feature of the seascape and a reminder of days gone by. This artwork captures the contrasting colours of the pylons against a deep blue sky and swilling shallow waters amongst the sandstone rocks. The painting was inspired by a photo taken by my friend and colleague Jonathan Potter, a regular visitor to this beautiful beach.

My paintings try to capture the the vivid colours in beautiful Australian landscapes that I have visited during my travels. My recent work is inspired by aerial photographs of Australian desert landscapes, the Flinders Ranges and the seascapes of the Fleurieu Peninsular. I find painting inredibly meditative, indeed therapeutic. Everyone should try it!
