Artwork Description

I was born in the 80s and grew up in the 90s. Back then finding ways to entertain yourself when it was rainy Scottish day was a short thinking process. Mainly because you didn't have many options. There was no playstation, no laptop, no tablet and no smart phone. But there was this little chap. The game boy truly was a game chamger. No plugs, no TV connection, just some double A batteries and you were on your way! It also represents a time in my life before all the bullshit of adulthood got in the way of being happy and content. The game boy was simple, straight foward. These days I'm very big on recapturing that raw contentment, which is one of the main reasons why I paint. It's my little escape. My thing to do on a rainy day. My feeling of contentment. My happy place. My game boy 😊

What was your favourite game?

Artist Bio

Born and raised in Coatbridge, a small working-class town on the outskirts of Glasgow, Scotland, Sully (Martin Sullivan) took to drawing and painting from a very young age. He would then later graduate from the Edinburgh college of art with a Bachelors degree in Visual communication. He now lives in Sydney, Australia.

Sully's describes his work as abstract geometric. Using heavy brush strokes and straight lines he pieces together the subject matter in an original way. He aims to stand out from the crowd with his style and show his versatility through a painting style rather than a specific subject matter. His work is also an insight into him as a person or at least the person he try's his best to be every day. Bright, bold, colourful, energetic and above all, honest.

He believes that art is for everyone and tries to convey that message through his work and his overall brand. His approach to painting and marketing is a combination of what he loves about the art world and what he dislikes about it and the lessons he's learned on his journey. He aims to shake things up in the art world and change the online buying process and the way its perceived.
