Artwork Description

I love our old green Melbourne trams! I used to take a tram to school every day, this green one in particular, and there would be naughty children who would hitch a free ride by hanging on the back of the tram or just on the outdoor step to avoid the roving conductor collecting fees! I had lots of fun creating this painting. It was like a theatrical stage-set, and the characters of each cat that developed through the journey was exciting and sometimes hilarious! I’ve brought the painting back in today’s age whereby we have lots of cats playing with their mobile phones, typical of today! And there’s a naughty statement in the left hand corner, with one cat taking a dog for a walk on a leash, um, that’s a bit crazy, but again, it’s all in fun. No offence intended to dog-owners!

Artist Bio

A self-taught artist who likes to play with paint, play the piano and potter in the garden, meaning she comes up trumps with acrylic paintings covering a wide spectrum of subjects, mainly depicting what surrounds her, what is in her environment, even her home life, with small, domestic topics, through to the beautiful flowers and plants and produce in her garden, sometimes whimsical, sometimes serious. All painted with love and joy.

I’ve been drawing and making and playing all my life and it is a bit like breathing; it’s who I am, to be painting and playing the piano and pottering in the garden. These are my happiest moments. If I have a day or more with none of these creative pursuits, my life feels dull, empty, unproductive. Currently I volunteer at an op shop as well as painting. I’ve been teaching piano for over 30 years but recently had to give this up due to the amplification of viruses in today’s times, which allows me to hone in more on my artistic adventures.

Thank you so much, in anticipation of supporting my artwork. This is what I do now, I paint and hopefully bring joy and magic into other people’s homes. That’s what it’s about for me. If the piece brings you joy, then I’ve done my job well!

My life motto is about Making the World a more Beautiful Place to Be, through Art, Music and Gardening.
