Artwork Description

Puffing Billy is a famous Melbourne icon of a steam train that takes you through the Dandenong Ranges just east of Melbourne, where, mind you, I lived for 2 years. (Two years was enough as I found it very damp, dark and cold living in the hills! Shot back to Melbourne inner city quite quickly!). It’s absolutely beautiful out that way, and I remember going on this train when I was a child, the glory of going over the trestle bridge there at Monbulk, depicted in this painting. Adding cats to the equation just makes for more hilarity and fun. I hope you enjoy this piece just as much as I did creating this stage-set!

Artist Bio

A self-taught artist who likes to play with paint, play the piano and potter in the garden, meaning she comes up trumps with acrylic paintings covering a wide spectrum of subjects, mainly depicting what surrounds her, what is in her environment, even her home life, with small, domestic topics, through to the beautiful flowers and plants and produce in her garden, sometimes whimsical, sometimes serious. All painted with love and joy.

I’ve been drawing and making and playing all my life and it is a bit like breathing; it’s who I am, to be painting and playing the piano and pottering in the garden. These are my happiest moments. If I have a day or more with none of these creative pursuits, my life feels dull, empty, unproductive. Currently I volunteer at an op shop as well as painting. I’ve been teaching piano for over 30 years but recently had to give this up due to the amplification of viruses in today’s times, which allows me to hone in more on my artistic adventures.

Thank you so much, in anticipation of supporting my artwork. This is what I do now, I paint and hopefully bring joy and magic into other people’s homes. That’s what it’s about for me. If the piece brings you joy, then I’ve done my job well!

My life motto is about Making the World a more Beautiful Place to Be, through Art, Music and Gardening.
