MaryLin’s distinctive style of contemporary abstract expressionist work references the colours and rhythms of the natural environment. Abstract images; with their layered shapes, bold brush marks and rich textures; invite the viewer into psychological and emotive spaces. These explorative art works resonate with experimentation, depth, luminosity and emotional energy.
With a particular focus on vigorous brushwork, rhythmic composition and harmonious colour ranges, MaryLin’s art practise is one of free working with acrylic paint on canvas and art papers. She lives and creates in the temperate rainforest area of the Dandenong Ranges near Narrm, Melbourne; and is qualified with both a bachelor’s degree in painting and many years of joyous engagement with this art form. These resonant and dynamic abstractions invite the viewer to enjoy forming their own interpretation and making their own meaning.
