This abstracted image ‘fossil fuel fire’ reflects my passion and feeling for the health of land, water, air, and people, as the colours and shapes also reflects the feckless burning of fossil fuels. It reflects my questions. ‘How did this happen?’ The frenetic and active painterly gestures reflected in orange move over the surface as fire does, either contained in a gas appliance or an uncontained fire we run from. This artwork ‘Fossil Fuel Fire’ was a finalist chosen for in the Climate Change Biennale exhibition at Burrinja Culture Centre, Upwey, Victoria

Artwork Description
Artist Bio
Creating my distinctive form of contemporary abstract art forms a dynamic connection to the natural environment for me. I live and create my artwork in the temperate rainforest mountainous region of Melbourne/Naarm in Australia. Developing my original and abstract expressionist style of contemporary work all started with an exploratory line. As the lines travelled into shapes, an exciting exploration of colour, brushwork and form developed organically into my current artistic process. Expressive mark making has become an exciting and deeply personal translation of the observation of growth and decay in nature, and reflects my perception of the beauty of nature.
Having been fortunate to study and teach visual art in my life my expressive way of working now develops organically with rhythmic form, aesthetic surface, emotive colour and tone; and is infused with inner delight and the personal meaning I find in painting. Enjoy!
