This painting is about the Taiwanese butterfly koi fish, apple, and austroboletus lacunosus.
Those mushrooms are an endemic species of fungi that have been discovered in NSW. The fish is representative of Taiwan, and the apple is there to symbolize Adam and Eve.
All 3 of those elements are representative of my personal vision of isolation.
Taiwan is isolated because it is an island. The mushrooms are isolated because they canโt survive anywhere else because of the specific natural conditions. Adam and Eva mustโve felt isolated on such a big empty planet.
I believe isolation is more than an objective state of mind.
You can feel isolated even in such a crowded place.
