Iβm a person who has always been fascinated by the form and shape of things.
Sculpture occupies real space like we do... I love that you can walk around it and relate to it, almost as you would to another person. This creates such a personal relationship with the piece.
I was born in Florence, where I was constantly surrounded by amazing art. What really stroked me was the harmony in the proportions of statues, buildings and landscapes. Golden ratio, indeed, in almost everything.
After travelling the world for many years, I have finally settled in Australia, where nature gave me the opportunity to start and turn my experiences into works of art.
I began working on the landscape of my farm, designed and built a variety of structures. Finally, I got inspired to carve and shape wood.
Wood is an amazing medium. It holds its shape firmly, and reveals the flow of time, the cycle of the years it grew in, with its grain veins. Working with wood is a constant discovery of beauty, allowing me to imprint my story, visions and dreams.
βA man who works with his hands is a labourer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.β (Louis Nizer)
