Artwork Description

Came across an image of an old man on google images ... have been very inspired by the portraits of albetro giacometti and Frank aurbach.
It started as a very dull portrait, quite soft colour and line then in the final stages I used a small screwdriver and dug into the surface to make line.
It can be seen as both a painting and a sculpture.
I very much wanted the figure centered and almost give a trapped significant feeling.

Artist Bio

Hello bluethumb world..

I'm not very good at writing about myself but I'll give it a go..
I'm first and foremost a painter, illustrator. I am interested mostly in figure/landscape and how we identify ourselves as humans within it.
I also touch on isolation and space, always questioning existence and sometimes creating satire.

2008 I studied art at tafe in Newcastle, nsw
One of the best experiences with fantastic teachers who were practising artists such as Michael Bell, John morris, Jill Orr and many more. After completing my diploma I made a big move to Melbourne to do my degree at RMIT.
I did enjoy studying there and met some amazing people though did not complete.

In 2019 I was represented by a gallery in Italy and my work travelled to the Miami art fair

I'm glad to he apart of this platform and hope to show case some of my recent works. Happy to do commissions aswell if I'm able.

Matthew.
