Matthew Cooper has been painting as a hobby for many years, using acrylic, water colour and oils. He aims to capture the world around him, from the buildings of the Brisbane city and suburbs, peaceful holiday moments by the sea, as well as an occasional abstract full of energy and contrast. Matthew’s recent focus is on representing the light and colours of the ocean and shallow waters over sandy beaches.
Matthew has taken instruction from a few artists over the years and recently entered a couple of art prizes. He was a recipient of a business sponsorship prize in Petite Pieces exhibition 2019 at Aspire Gallery, Brisbane. He plans to enter a more prizes over the next year and share his work with a wider audience.
