Artwork Description

I like to include words in my art as I have been around words for most of my life. I also lived in Japan for nine years and this work has a Japanese saying in it. The saying "ito no kireta tako" precisely translates as "kite on a broken string" but idiomatically it translates as 'At a loose end'. Japanese is more compact than English because it uses Chinese characters and syllabaries, so you can fit more information into a smaller space.

Artist Bio

After getting a BA in 1985 I worked in various offices for 35 years before becoming a journalist. In 2022 I established the Eastern Suburbs Art Group with Simon Kahn and began making works, taking up watercolour in November. I participated in a group show ‘Colour as A Plot Device’ in August 2023 and had my own solo show ‘Media of Mass Psychology’ in November 2023.
