Artwork Description

This is an historical peice depicting Matthew Flinders and George Bass exploring the east coast in a tiny boat called ' Tom Thumb '. The subject interested me as it is open to interpretation as an artist and I've made the painting focusing on humour and characterisation.

Artist Bio

Working mainly in oils and acrylics my art captures the activity of characters in social situations and the surrounding area. Included are landscapes, cityscapes and also interiors. I work colour into my paintings to create the atmosphere of the moment and the interaction of people. The natural environment inspires me as well I.e seeing a bird swoop through the trees or dogs playing on the beach. I grew up mainly in Rockhampton Qld and enjoyed going out with my friends alot playing sport in the backyard and bushwalks with the family. I participated in many sports at school with cricket being a favorite.
Historical subjects are also an interest which I like to feature frequently. I currently reside at the Glasshouse Mountains and my work mainly is centred around the Sunshine Coast area. My main influences are Pro Hart, Hugh Sawry, Picasso and Rembrandt.
