Since as early as I can remember visual art has been at the centre of my life. My mother is an award-winning artist and she has helped me learn how to look at the world and observe the extraordinary in things which may at first seem ordinary. I’ve been involved in the family art buisness for over a decade helping teach artclasses, and recently painting live at weddings and events, but my preferred medium is charcoal and pencil. Because I have been imbued with a love of vibrancy and colour from early age, I often implement a mixed medium approach when it comes to my artwork—using both pencil work and acrylic paint.
I have always been fascinated with the human eye and facial expressions and love capturing volume in them, using harsh shadows and vibrant colours to exaggerate cheekbones and other features. I enjoy taking on commissions to sketch others. I’m studying psychology, so I enjoy over-analysing and emphasising the connection between colour, expression, and texture in my portraits. My art is made with high-quality A2 acrylic paint, graphite and charcoal.
