Matthew originally trained and practiced as a theatre set and costume designer. For 20 years Matthew managed major events in Australia, China, Greece, India, Indonesia, Qatar, Turkey and United Arab Emirates, including opening and closing ceremonies for Asian and Arab Games. This experience has broadly informed Matthew's art practice. In the past 10 years Matthew has concentrated on refining his life drawing and landscapes, principally in pastels and his still life in oil.
