Artwork Description

Hebetude was exhibited in a show called Frida in 2020 at Maribyrnong River Edge Art Movement in Melbourne. The painting follows my captivation with lines building up form over time. It has a variety of earth hues, along with green and white lines, in the background and a rendition of a Frida Kahlo head in lines.

The title is fairly random. The work is abstract, the meaning is invited to be created by the viewer. It is my homage to a great 20th century artist.

Artist Bio

I am a visual artist with a hidden disability. I mainly paint in oil on canvas. My works celebrate the process of painting, embracing changes, accidents, and discoveries made along the way. For as long as I can remember I have been interested in lines in artwork. This interest has distilled to a point where I am painting only in lines. Lines come in many forms‚ the brush stoke‚ the mark‚ calligraphy. I love the way the patterns of lines build up‚ they merge from fields into traces of energy. I am interested in the harmonies and the joining of form and the different scales at which the lines form pattern.
