Artwork Description

Nilas follows a continuing interest in layers of lines accumulating over the picture surface. Nilas displays a muted palette of predominantly whites and greys. The brush strokes are comparatively contained in what is a compact work. Nilas is an abstract piece with a few symbols appearing submerged in the paintwork. The title is whimsical, not representational.

Artist Bio

I am a visual artist with a hidden disability. I mainly paint in oil on canvas. My works celebrate the process of painting, embracing changes, accidents, and discoveries made along the way. For as long as I can remember I have been interested in lines in artwork. This interest has distilled to a point where I am painting only in lines. Lines come in many forms‚ the brush stoke‚ the mark‚ calligraphy. I love the way the patterns of lines build up‚ they merge from fields into traces of energy. I am interested in the harmonies and the joining of form and the different scales at which the lines form pattern.
