Artwork Description

This piece is deeply personal - it reflects my journey as an immigrant seeking freedom, both in life and in art. Moving to a new country was more than just a change of place; it was a release from limitation - a chance to breathe, create, and live authentically.
The open space and flowing elements in this artwork represent that moment of expansion - when fear turns into courage and boundaries dissolve into possibilities. I wanted to capture the feeling of standing in a place where the sky feels bigger, and you can finally feel the weight lifting off your shoulders.

In a home or studio, this piece brings a sense of openness and calm — a reminder that freedom is not just a place, but a feeling we carry within us once we choose to live truthfully.

Created using acrylic paint, the piece combines soft textures, layered tones, and expressive brushwork to evoke lightness and movement.
Each layer was built intuitively - a visual metaphor for the layers of identity, resilience, and renewal that define the immigrant experience.

Artist Bio

I'm a Melbourne-based artist working primarily with watercolour, oil, and acrylic. My creative practice is driven by a deep interest in the emotional resonance of colour, texture, and form. I explore themes of memory, nature, and inner landscapes—often blurring the line between abstraction and reality.
Art has always been a way for me to process the world around me. Whether it’s the soft fluidity of watercolour, the bold presence of oil, or the versatility of acrylic, each medium allows me to express something unique and personal. I’m especially inspired by the shifting moods of the natural world and how those moods mirror our internal states.
My work is intuitive and layered, inviting viewers to pause and find their own meaning in each piece. Over the years, I’ve exhibited in group shows around Victoria, and my artworks are now held in private collections across Australia.
Through Bluethumb, I’m excited to share my evolving body of work and connect with people who feel something in the marks, colours, and moments I capture on canvas and paper.
