Here we have all the staples of an old-fashioned summer holiday at the beach - sunshine, Big Things, marine parks, saturated colour and Meter Maids in gold lamé bikinis. My paintings are based on vintage Australian postcards, which present a very particular view of Australianness - fun in the sun, right before the sunburn kicks in. Translucent layers and saturated, glossy colours give the painting the air of happy holiday memories enshrined in postcards sent back home.
These works are oil on board and are ready to hang right out of the box.
