Marian Hookham sketches faces everywhere she goes.
Almost everyone she paints is a stranger to her and she can't say how or why she began.
Each time she does this she feels strangely bonded to her subject, somehow intimately linked. The subject of course, knows none of this.
She seeks above all to capture some essence, something ineffable.
