Artwork Description

A knife palette work of vivid yellow poppies blooming against a richly textured grey-toned background.
The background is a sophisticated blend of soft greys, smoky black, and hints of warm, earthy beige, applied with a loose, abstract touch. The swipe of a knife defines each petal edges rough but intentional, giving the flowers a raw, emotive presence.

Artist Bio

Hello, I’m Meera, a self-proclaimed daydreamer with a brush, capturing moments through both what is seen and what is felt. Based in Melbourne, I recently uncovered a new facet of myself as a creative artist. In 2017, I moved to Australia with my family from India, searching for a fresh direction in life. Coming from an engineering background and working full-time in a professional role, I spent years immersed in the structure of a "successful" life. During this time, I neglected my natural instincts as an artist, letting my brushes gather dust amid the demands of daily life. But eventually, I realized that I could no longer ignore the overwhelming need to express the creativity swirling within me. I needed an outlet, or else I feared losing myself.

Though I don’t have formal art training, I’ve come to understand that life, culture, relationships, and nature are my teachers. I believe that art isn’t something to be confined to a hobby, but rather a vital form of expression. The greatest freedom of being an artist, for me, is the realization that perfection is not the goal—true beauty often lies in the imperfections. This is why I proudly embrace the label of "imperfectionist."

I’ve experimented with various mediums, including oil, acrylic, gouache, and textured works. At this stage, I’m exploring a diverse range of subjects, trusting that through this experimentation, I’ll eventually find my true artistic path.
