Artwork Description

Two Orange Flowering Maple blossoms from my garden, painted in 2022. I often catch these flowers being backlight by the afternoon sun and I wanted to try to capture that glow. I rather liked the varying surface texture of this painting, predominantly of a matte appearance, so it remains unvarnished to maintain that organic aesthetic.

Painted on archival 'claybord' by Ampersand. It is housed in an intricate black floral frame. I have included a few detail shots, some of which are taken from an angle to show the slight impasto in the petals.

Artist Bio

**Please note; I am currently closed for commissions, but may reopen after June 2027, Thank you**

Hello! My work is representational and can be symbolic, steeped in narrative, myth, prose or spirituality. The act of building an image is a kind of searching implement, resonating between the seen and the unseen, always with the aim to obtain a greater understanding of both.

To stir thought and question perceptions of reality, searching, comforting and healing from within.

I work in oil, graphite and charcoal and prefer to work in a layered, detailed manner.
A classical painting enthusiast, with strong influences from William-Adolphe Bouguereau, John William Waterhouse and Rembrandt van Rijn.

My work is held in collections in Australia and internationally. I am based in Regional NSW.

Feel free to contact me with any commission requests and I will work out a quote for you.
