Artwork Description

Abstract realism, cubist influenced portrait of a young woman known to me personally.
The young woman’s “resting face” and calm expression and exaggerated features , a reflection of herself. A deeply personal work that would look perfect in any setting but may appeal to those businesses that work within the beauty industry.

Artist Bio

Let me introduce myself. I am an artist and teacher living and working in rural NSW.
I am an artist who works within the realm of abstract realism with a particular focus on portraits.
My expressive acrylic paintings on canvas aim to explore the intersection of beauty, age and identity.
Through my work I confront the societal tendency to celebrate youth and beauty while allowing women to feel overlooked as they age.
My portraits challenge the viewer to reconsider the traditional standards of visibility and worth.
By capturing the raw essence of my subjects my art emphasises the power and depth that comes with experience and age, providing space for women to reclaim their narrative.
