Waiting for Jane

This piece was inspired by the neon punk aesthetic of the 80sand 90s.
Its title referencing the band “Jane’s addiction”.
This work with its vibrant neon colours, textured surface and movement would suit any space but would look incredible in a nightclub, bar or restaurant against a black, white or tinted wall.

Let me introduce myself. I am an artist and teacher living and working in rural NSW.
I am an artist who works within the realm of abstract realism with a particular focus on portraits.
My expressive acrylic paintings on canvas aim to explore the intersection of beauty, age and identity.
Through my work I confront the societal tendency to celebrate youth and beauty while allowing women to feel overlooked as they age.
My portraits challenge the viewer to reconsider the traditional standards of visibility and worth.
By capturing the raw essence of my subjects my art emphasises the power and depth that comes with experience and age, providing space for women to reclaim their narrative.
