I am a self-taught emerging artist and am continuously experimenting and learning to further develop my art and life skills.
I have always loved and appreciated art and from an early age dabbled in painting and drawing. However, it wasnโt until 2019 that I decided to actively pursue painting, after working for many years in corporate finance, as a means to meditate, switch off my analytical brain and activate my creative side. In 2020, I found great solace in painting when I experienced a devasting redundancy and was struggling to find work. During this time, painting allowed me to heal and realise considerable amount of personal growth.
Painting has taught me to take risks, let go, be patient, make mistakes and forgive myself. I am and have always been my own worst critic and painting has helped me build confidence and strive for progress and not perfection. Additionally, I have learnt that art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder; not everyone will like my art, sometimes I donโt even like my art, and that is ok and should not stop me from doing what I love โ which is painting every single day.
My paintings are inspired by nature and the land, having grown up on a farm in Victoria and lived in numerous locations around Australia, including Rockhampton and Kununurra. I enjoy realism as I love creating colour, depth and movement within a painting. However, I love to explore other styles such as abstract which challenge my imagination.
I hope that my artwork bring others as much joy as it brought me when I painted it.
Thank you,
