Watercolour on paper
Signed on the front.
This artwork was created on cotton rag paper and was painted from life during a six-hour sitting. Painting from life is a significant source of inspiration for me in my art practice. I used pink and red watercolour pencils to draw the model and professional-grade watercolour paints to capture a variety of colours. I used watercolour glazing techniques to create a range of hues and tints, combined with a mixture of brushwork and loose gestural effects. I left some areas of the paper white to emphasise a quick, spontaneous response when painting from life within a limited time frame.
I painted this work entirely over one sitting. (6hours)
