Creating something of beauty has always come naturally to me. It is my hobby, my passion, my go to. When life becomes challenging, the pleasure & serenity of creating something is even more powerful & necessary.
They came to me from my love of ethnic, global art. After spending time in Thailand, Bangladesh & Bali, I began doodling henna style, then decided to repeat each pattern in a circle. When I completed my first large scale circle henna art, I just knew. Iβm not the kind of artist that amazes the world with my talent in varying styles and techniques. This circle just clicked. I felt amazing, and it looked amazing. I experienced a joy that made me giddy. I felt like I had found something truly special and it just poured from me.
Many commission pieces later, my Mum pointed out something to me which blew my mind and squeezed my heart.
My Nanna, was an amazing crotchet artist. She created patterns from her mind and memory and never needed a pattern. Her designs were circular and she would pin them to bright cardboard to sell or giveaway. Are these memories etched into my makeup? Is it in my DNA? Or is my Nanna guiding me in a beautiful way that only she knows how. The obvious connection is so wonderful.
I am a 40 year old chick, mum of a beautiful daughter, Maya, twin boys, Rex & Griff and an entrepreneur, surfing husband, Ben. We live in the sunshine by the coast and I grew up in the authentic red dirt of Kalgoorlie.
I work from home in Perth, Western Australia. All my art is made by me, using acrylic paint & posca pens on canvas and paper.
