The need to create expressive art has always been at the core of Melanie as an artistic and creative person.
By taking inspiration from our environment and/or shared human experiences, Melanie produces beautiful, meaningful, and moving art to connect hearts. In early adulthood this was through choreography and today it is through fine art pieces.
As a child Melanie always enjoyed nature and experimenting creatively with whatever resources she could find. Then as a youth she found enjoyment in all art forms, and received great encouragement from teachers in fine arts, ceramics, guitar, singing, dance, choreography, drama and print making. There was however pressure during teenage years to 'choose' and focus more intently on one area. Due to successfully completing dance examinations and work offers in teaching, Melanie decided to focus her time and efforts in performing arts.
After a successful career as a performing arts teacher it wasn't until 2013 that Melanie returned in her life to pursuing fine arts for both personal pleasure and well-being. This was while studying and working as a school chaplain.
2018 saw Melanie take up fine arts full-time from her home in Bendigo, both producing and offering private tuition.
Melanie now produces one-off, original works of art in watercolour, acrylic, ink and mixed media.
As the internal need to create remains a strong, core element to Melanie as an artist, she loves experimenting and pushing perceived boundaries with known, established techniques and styles. The aim to connect hearts through the awe and beauty of our world and shared experiences is seen through the new and expressive, visually stimulating pieces Melanie produces from her home in Bendigo, Australia.
