This piece is part of a small series of works created in 2020 titled 'penitusque terram' meaning deep within land. This work was inspired by the surrounding quite bushland and creek of my local coastal area where I find solace in wandering, swimming, collecting natural objects and contemplating the silence of nature.
This piece is titled 'solatium terra' which is Latin for land of solace. The title reflects the aware experience I encountered whilst sitting in the beautiful Australian coastal and bush landscape, where I am privileged to live.
I've used a combination of acrylics for the background mono print, plant dyed paper for the central collage wrapped in plant dyed cotton thread. This layer is then floated on vintage paper by hand stitching using plant dyed cotton thread.
The work aims to encourage reflection and awareness of our connection to nature.
As you can see from the images, I am suggesting this piece could form part of a studio hanging with other complementary artworks which you can view here:

FRAMING AVAILABLE WITH BLUETHUMB
This work on paper is listed unframed, however please let me know if you would like a quote for framing with Bluethumb. I feel this piece would look beautiful in the simplicity of a black or natural light timber frame.
Thank you for taking the time to view my art.
