Influenced by the Murnong Yam daisy that is indigenous to central Victoria; it once grew in abundance in this area and was the main staple food source for the Djaara people of Dja Dja Wurrung country, until colonisation and the introduction of farming and gold mining, turned this land upside down and decimated the Murnong population. This artwork suggests a celebration of this significant and humble plant in the hope that revegetation of our land can include an abundance of Murnong once again.
