The word Yuraga is the Dhurga word for sun. The Dhurga language is the local language of Yuin Country on the south coast of NSW.
This painting was inspired by the energy we receive from yuraga.
The sun symbolizes life, creation, energy, and spirituality in Aboriginal culture. It can also represent ancestral connections, the cycle of life, and the importance of the natural environment.
I used earthy Colours as traditional Aboriginal art often utilizes earthy colours like ochre, black, red, and yellow. These colours are derived from natural materials and hold cultural significance in Aboriginal communities.
Yuraga, as a life-giving force, plays a vital role in the relationship between Indigenous Australians and their ancestral lands.
