Drawing on my previous paintings of still life elements set against void-like grounds, this painting proposes a contemplation on our connection to the home, nature, humanity and our environment. Still life asks us to stop and consider the world anew. It urges us to look closely and observe.

The black depth wraps itself around this domestic scene acting like a comforting dream-like embrace. The heightened psychedelic colours, bring to mind scenes from the Wizard of Oz, hence the title, and the strange tales of Alice in Wonderland. It’s to question our reality and how we all perceive things differently. These fantastical colours illustrate that there is magic everywhere, we just need to look.
