Artwork Description

Oil on wood, ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

This a self portrait I did at a time when I was feeling quite overwhelmed and stretched. It is hard to balance family, work, your own needs and the needs of everyone else in our modern world. I have often used themes of 'balancing' or 'juggling' with previous self portraits, in a fun manner. This self portrait is darker. Since COVID there has been extra stress on everyone, and the turmoil is heavy. This is a visual representation of how I felt at this time.... tied up and drowning.

'Toujours Lamour (Love always)' is a still life painting that features two red roses in a glass bottle. Another red rose lays on the ground to the right of the bottle. A single rose petal sits on the left of the bottle. The glass bottle is the classic Coca-Cola shape, but the typeface on the glass has changed to the words 'Tourjours Lamour' in the classic coke branded font. The backgrounds is a dark cloudy blue gray.
