My work has been highly influenced by the world of commercial art and graphic design. This translates to my art in many ways. My still life paintings are careful composition full of allegories, which capture a moment in time where all represented items are meaningful beyond the composition.
"The Rose and the Sugar Cube" is one in a series of still life paintings that feature a flower, and other everyday objects. In this painting a rose bloom sits in an ordinary silver sugar bowl alongside a few sugar cubes and a teaspoon. The flower represents natural beauty, and the sugar represents indulgence and hedonism.
