About Melodie C
My name is Melodie C. I was born in the Belgium Congo in Africa. At the age of ten I moved to Belgium, it is there that I later attended the Academie Des Beaux Arts (Brussels). Grappling with being thrust into a rigid European culture I continued to find myself inspired by my early experiences gained in Africa. “Emotionism – Series 1’’, a collection of 12 paintings, is a homage to the people of Africa who showed me that, ‘Perfection is in the Perception of the Heart’. “Emotionism – Series 1” is also a tribute to those who can identify with the symbolism that is Universal. I choose to sign my paintings as “Melodyssey”, a statement that reflects my heartfelt belief that, ‘My art is my odyssey’.
