Artwork Description

Informed by the conventions of still life painting, this work depicts an intimate scene in the boudoir. The materiality of the lace fabric, its provocative arrangement and the way it drapes, is suggestive of a female form. I love painting the details on fabric, building it up layer upon layer with every minute nuance. Painting the fabric is like discovering the past.

My studio is in the middle of my home, We live by the forest, The forest is full of creatures and birds. The house is full of things, dust, art and sometimes creatures as well. My paintings evolve over many hours, sometimes months, building layer upon layer. For me this is the thing that is so wonderful about painting, it's slowness.
