Artwork Description

The owls are always darting in and out if the forest next to my house at night. I often lie in bed looking out the window hoping to catch a glimpse of them in the moonlight. The background in this work is painted with a metallic gold top layer. It gives the painting a luminous look evocative of the light pouring in the window.

My studio is in the middle of my home, We live by the forest, The forest is full of creatures and birds. The house is full of things, dust, art and sometimes creatures as well. My paintings evolve over many hours, sometimes months, building layer upon layer. For me this is the thing that is so wonderful about painting, it's slowness.
